Happy July and Welcome to Our Newsletter,
Summer is shining bright, and we're soaking up every moment of sunshine, sandy paws, and seaside adventures. Whether you're planning a beach getaway, enjoying backyard barbecues, or taking evening walks with your favorite four-legged companion, July is the perfect time to celebrate the simple joys of life with our dogs. As always, we're excited to share seasonal tips, summer safety reminders, and a little coastal-inspired style to help your pup look and feel their best all month long.
Last month we wrapped up fundraising for PawLife Rescue Group raising $1690.00! This quarter we're fundraising for Shore Saves. They're a non-profit animal rescue organization based in Freehold, New Jersey, dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming at-risk dogs in our local communities, regardless of breed, age, or medical needs. Their mission is to create a future where every local dog in need finds safety, love, and a forever home.
These are some of the things we do for Daisy to ensure she has a safe and healthy summer:
🐾 Stay Hydrated
Always bring fresh water for your dog during walks, beach trips, and outdoor adventures. Dogs can become dehydrated quickly in the summer heat.
☀️ Avoid Hot Pavement
If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your dog's paws. Plan walks for early morning or evening when temperatures are cooler.
🏖️ Practice Water Safety
Not all dogs are natural swimmers. Keep a close eye on your pup around pools, lakes, and the ocean. Consider a dog life jacket for boating or beach outings.
🎆 Prepare for Fireworks
July fireworks can be frightening for many dogs. Create a calm indoor space, keep windows and doors closed, and ensure your dog's ID tags and microchip information are current.
🌴 Watch for Heat Exhaustion
Signs of overheating include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, and difficulty walking. Move your dog to a cool area immediately and contact your veterinarian if symptoms persist.
🐕 Protect Against Fleas & Ticks
Warm weather means pests are more active. Stay up to date on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention to keep your pup healthy all summer long.
🍉 Offer Dog-Friendly Summer Treats
Frozen treats made from dog-safe ingredients can help your pup cool down. Try freezing watermelon (seedless), blueberries, or veterinarian-approved frozen snacks.
🐚 Beach Day Reminder
After a day at the beach, rinse saltwater and sand from your dog's coat and paws. Check for any cuts, irritation, or trapped shells between their paw pads.
📸 Capture the Memories
Summer adventures make the perfect photo opportunities. Don't forget to snap a few pictures of your pup showing off their favorite Daisy's Dog Collar!
